How the form score is calculated
- Every contest is worth 0 to 100. A contest that reached the Grand Final is worth 50 to 100, scaled against the number of finalists that night: the winner takes 100, the last finalist 50. A contest that missed the final is worth 0 to 45, scaled against the semi final field. The weakest Grand Final result is therefore always ahead of the strongest miss.
- An auto qualification counts as a Grand Final entry, because the semi final was skipped from the top rather than lost.
- Each contest is measured against its own field. Field sizes change from contest to contest, so 12th of 26 finalists is not read as the same result as 12th of 20.
- The contests in the window count the same. The number in the gauge is their plain average, so no single contest is worth more than another and the window itself is what makes the number mean something.
- The two tabs change the window, not the measure. Current form reads the last 5 contests, wherever they fall, so it can reach back into an earlier season. Season 6 reads every contest of this season and nothing outside it.
- The line under the gauge is the change: in the current form tab it is this window against the same window one contest earlier, which is what "moved it up 13 points" means. In the season tab it is this season against where the previous one finished.
- Usual level is the same 0 to 100 value averaged over every contest this country has ever played. It is the notch on the arc, and it stays the same in both tabs, so the gauge always reads against this country's own normal rather than against an absolute scale.
- Form rank places this number next to every country still eligible for the season award, measured the same way and over the same contests.
A country with fewer than 3 contests gets no score at all, only the strip of results.
